WSC Implements Emergency Notification System

Worcester State College has selected Communicator! NXT as the automated emergency notification system. This system will be able to send simultaneous alerts to students, faculty and staff within minutes.

Emergency communications is a key challenge facing colleges and universities across the country. With thousands of people on campus every day combined with the geographic reality of numerous buildings, the delivery of emergency communications can prove challenging in the event of a crisis or disaster.

The Emergency Communication system will be able to rapidly and automatically communicate with the college community in the event of a crisis or disaster. Emergency personnel will no longer have to distribute vital messages individually through a broadcast e-mail, voice mail, cell phone call or through the posting of flyers. When an incident occurs, WSC will be able to relay critical information to landline phones, email, cell phones, and more — all at the same time.

The @worcester.edu e-mail address for all students, faculty and staff has been imported into the emergency notification system. Each faculty and staff's WSC phone number has also been imported into the system. Your Worcester e-mail address remains as the primary/default address in the system. You do however have the option of modifying your profile so that the system also sends emergency messages to your other modes of communication (i.e. cell phone voice mail, home phone voice mail, pager and/or text message to cell phone).
