Communications Professor Named

2006 Institute for Journalism Excellence Fellow

(Worcester, MA – July 11, 2006) Barbara Zang, Ph.D., associate professor of communications at Worcester State College (WSC), was named as a 2006 Institute for Journalism Excellence Fellow by the American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE). The fellows in the Institute for Journalism Excellence represent colleges and universities around the country.

Zang, who is one of twenty journalism professors working as reporters, photographers, copy editors and online producers at daily newspapers this summer, is completing her fellowship at The Santa Fe New Mexican. The intensive ASNE program helps strengthens ties between educators and editors.

More than 220 professors have been a part of the Institute. It's an opportunity for the educators who have not worked in a newsroom for several years to sharpen their journalism skills. It also helps newsrooms learn more about journalism education.
