Worcester State Foundation Welcomes New Members

(Worcester, MA – July 13, 2004) The Worcester State Foundation Board welcomed new members at its annual board meeting on June 29, 2004. New members to the distinguished board are: George H. Albro, retired assistant principal of Leicester High School; Jean A. Campaniello, Ed.D., retired professor of the Nursing Department at Worcester State College; Joe Petrou, director of operations of Union Station - The Restaurant; David H. Quist, Ed.D., retired professor and chair of the Education Department at Worcester State College; Gregg H. Rosen, President of NES Group, and Richard E. Thomas, vice president of Business Development & Branch Administration at Central One Federal Credit Union

At the meeting, Thomas M. McNamara, vice president for Institutional Advancement at Worcester State College and clerk for the Board, reported that the Foundation last fiscal year received support from over 3,300 donors and that the Foundation was able to transfer $380,000 to the WSC to assist students, faculty and staff.  Total annual support to the college surpassed its $1 million goal, ten new endowed funds were created, and the market value of the Worcester State College endowment reached $8.7 million.  Alumni giving set a new record of over $350,000.

The Worcester State Foundation, established in 1993, serves to advance and support the mission and programs of Worcester State College.  The Foundation develops resources, financial and otherwise, necessary to Worcester State College’s continuing growth as an academic institution serving Central Massachusetts and the Commonwealth, insuring access and quality to all those who seek higher education.
