Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FIGHTING HUNGER
A
Public Forum at Worcester State College
(Worcester, MA – November 12, 2003) The Intergenerational Urban Institute at
Worcester State College is hosting “Together Making Worcester County Hunger
Free,” a public forum on the hunger issues in Worcester. The forum is free
and will take place from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20,
2003 in the Blue Lounge of the Student Center.
Hunger is an issue in Worcester. One in three children under the age of 12
are hungry or at risk for being hungry and 75% of people requesting
emergency food in the Worcester area are children and their parents. The
purpose of this forum is to explore ways in which Worcester State College
and the wider Worcester community can work together to fill the gaps and
support public policies to make our community hunger-free. The forum will
also focus on the resources available and challenges ahead to realize the
goal of making Worcester hunger-free.
For
more information, contact Maureen Power or Fran Langille at
