Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WSC BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTS NEW OFFICERS
(Worcester,
MA – June 18, 2004) At its regularly scheduled meeting June 14, 2004, the
Worcester State College Board of Trustees elected a new chair and two vice
chairs, and welcomed the student trustee to the board.
Barbara J. Sinnott
was elected to serve as chairperson of the Board of Trustees.
Sinnott retired in 2002 as president and chief executive officer of the
Better Business Bureau of Central New England, Inc.
She also served two 4-year terms as chairperson of the
License Commission, which deals with alcohol and lodging licenses.
She is a native of Worcester, a former City Councilor and Vice-Mayor, and a
graduate of Worcester State College, Class of 1955.
John
Brissette,
an account executive at Braley & Wellington Insurance Agency, was elected to
serve as First Vice Chair of the Board. Due to increasing responsibilities
for the chair and vice chair, in 2002 the Board determined that the College
could be better served by having two vice chairs. An active alumnus, Class
of 1988, Brissette also served as president of the WSC Alumni Association
Advisory Board.
George W. Tetler III, Esq.,
a partner in the firm
Bowditch & Dewey, LLP, was elected to serve as Second Vice Chair. Tetler
has extensive experience representing business and real estate entities in a
wide range of business planning and transactional matters, including
mergers, acquisitions and reorganization. He is a former chair of the
Worcester Area Chamber of Commerce and serves as Trustee of the American
Antiquarian Society.
The Board
also welcomed the new student trustee, Annie Kalashian, a sophomore,
majoring in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Newburyport, MA
residents Mabel and Harry Kalashian. She replaces David Archambault
who graduated this spring.
