SIFE TEAM
RECEIVES FIRST RUNNER UP AT COMPETITION
(Worcester -- April 12, 2005) The
Worcester State College SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) team received the
First Runner-Up award and was named Rookie of the Year at the USA SIFE
Regional Competition in Boston on April 4, 2005.
The WSC SIFE team competed in
League One of the competition against Boston University, Siena College, La
Salle University, Suffolk University, and Maine Maritime Academy. During
the competition, they presented their marketing project, financial literacy
project, mentoring project, and web design project and demonstrated how they
are all designed to create a culture of participation through the teaching
of free market principles.
Since the competition, the SIFE
members have been congratulated by many of the WSC college community as well
as the Greater Worcester business community on the fantastic job they did at
the competition.
SIFE extended their thanks to the
Business Advisory Board members, the Worcester Business Journal, and
all those who have supported the SIFE team over the course of the
year.
Significantly, the whole team
thanked their advisors, Dr. Jay Mahoney and Dr. Bonnie Orcutt, who provided
them with the opportunity to become a part of Students in Free Enterprise.
"We are very exited about the
possibilities that the future holds for us and we look forward to the
implementation and further development of our projects," said SIFE member
Kelsey Thomassen.
