AWARD
WINNING JOURNALIST AND
PHOTOGRAPHER TO
DISCUSS STRUCTURAL VIOLENCE
(Worcester, MA – February 1, 2007) War, genocide, mass media and the
manufacture of consent are the topics of discussion that will be presented
at a multimedia presentation by the Department of Sociology at Worcester
State College (WSC) on Monday, February 12 at 1:30 p.m. in One Lancer Place,
Student Center and at 6:30 p.m. in the Learning Resource Center (Room 121).
Guest
lecturer Keith Harmon Snow is an independent journalist and photographer who
worked as a genocide consultant for the United Nations. He has worked in 43
countries, lives under the poverty line, and has won four awards from the
media research group, Project Censored, for his Africa reportage. In 2006 he
worked in Afghanistan, India and China, and covered the historic national
elections in the Congo. Snow also worked as a research and development
engineer on Pentagon programs for GE Aerospace Electronics Labs from
1985-1989.
