First Screening of
Film on Cuban Hip Hop
(WORCESTER -- November 23, 2004)
The Latino Education Institute: Home of the Worcester Working Coalition for
Latino Students at Worcester State College will be hosting the first
screening in Massachusetts of Inventos: Hip Hop Cubano on Thursday
December 2, 2004 at the North/South Auditorium, Student Center, Worcester
State College beginning with showtime at 7:00 PM. The documentary is in
Spanish with English subtitles. The event will conclude with a
question/answer session hosted by the film's director, Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi.
The film Inventos: Hip Hop
Cubano provides a unique insight into the realities and politics of
contemporary Cuba. Inventos documents the rise of the hip hop
movement in Cuba; it takes us back to the roots of hip hop, when the music
was more about the message and when social conditions created a social
consciousness and desire to effect change.
Film Director Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi,
a graduate of Tish School of the Arts at New York University, premiered the
movie in Havana, Cuba and toured successfully in England, Puerto Rico and
United States.
