The Struggles and Triumphs of an Exile
(Worcester, MA – September 12, 2007)
Alina Fernandez, Fidel Castro’s daughter, will speak at a free public
lecture at Worcester State College (WSC) at 11:30 a.m., on Thursday,
September 27, 2007, in the Student Center Blue Lounge.
Author of,
Castro's Daughter: An Exile's Memoir of Cuba, Fernandez will share
her story of her strained relationship with her father. She will tell of
the struggles and triumphs she faced during her escape from Cuba and her
success in the U.S. as a former model and public relations director for
a Cuban fashion company. Alina also currently hosts a daily radio
program on Cuban and Cuban-American issues.
The event is being sponsored by Flagship Bank and
WSC: Student Center/Student Activities, Disability Services Office,
Health Services Office, Women's Studies, Counseling Office, Health
Science Department, Student Events Committee and Third World Alliance.
