WSC Fights Hunger in
Worcester
(Worcester --
October 20, 2004) The Intergenerational Urban Institute (IUI) has joined the
fight against hunger in Worcester and is sponsoring a FOOD DRIVE to benefit
St. Paul’s Outreach. The College community may bring in urgently needed food
items through Friday, October 29th to help in this effort.
St.
Paul’s has a need for the following food items: canned fruits and
vegetables, tomato sauce, apple/other sugar-free juices, soups, rice, and
beans.
Bins are
placed in various locations around campus: the entrance to the cafeteria;
the food court next to Coyote Jack’s; the entrance of the campus book store;
in the laundry facilities of Chandler Village and the New Residence Hall; in
the lobbies of Dowden Hall, the New Residence Hall, and the Ghosh Science
and Technology Building; and on the 2nd and 3rd floors
of the LRC.
Matt Kosanovich of Americorps Vista has
joined the IUI team to work on hunger projects in Worcester County. Matt is
working with the Worcester County Food Bank to find ways for the College to
volunteer and help. He serves as the liaison for faculty, students and staff
who want to participate at the Worcester County Food Bank to help those who
are hungry. Matt will also be a liaison at Rachel’s Table and Brigham Hill
Community Farm.
