Item Released 3/12/07 CONSTRUCTION NOTICES FOR MARCH-APRIL 2007 GARAGE SECTIONS TO ARRIVE Beginning the week of March 19, the pre-cast concrete sections for the parking garage will arrive daily on flat-bed trucks for the next five to six weeks. A large crane with an extension of over 200 feet will unload the sections and construct the garage, which is on schedule for an August opening. The flat-bed trucks' traffic route will begin in Pittsfield, MA and end at WSC. TRAFFIC CHANGES Due to the construction of the parking garage, traffic patterns at WSC will be changed temporarily. The south exit onto May Street from the Sullivan Parking Lot will again be restricted for construction vehicles only. The South Entrance from May Street will remain open as an “entrance only” access (DO NOT USE AS AN EXIT!). You are advised to use the North Entrance to avoid delay during this time period. Exits onto Chandler Street are between the Ghosh Center and the Administration Building (right turn only onto Chandler Street) and the North Exit from the Gym Parking Lot. LRC ROADWAY CLOSED The LRC roadway, between the garage project and the Learning Resource Center, will be closed to traffic beginning March 12 through April. Access to the upper campus will be by the two-way road between Lake Ellie and Student Center. TEMPORARY BOOKSTORE The College Bookstore will be relocated temporarily to the Common Room, first floor in the Sullivan Building, and be open for business on March 26. The time schedule indicates that beginning in April, the Bookstore in the Student Center will expand by 1000 square feet and have a more accessible entrance. It will be open by the fall semester.
