WSC STUDENTS RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS
NOMINATIONS AT
KENNEDY CENTER AMERICAN COLLEGE THEATRE FESTIVAL
Seven Worcester State College students attended this
year’s Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, Region I conference
as competitors. Tasha Matthews, John Sanderski, and Kyle Maxwell were
nominated for the prestigious Irene Ryan Scholarship Award for their acting
in the Fall 2007 production of Under Milk Wood. Accompanying them as
scene partners were Christine Bussell, Emily Chestna, and Robert Anderson.
Matthew DeCiero was nominated for his work as a stage manager in
Spring 2007 production of The Beauty Inside.
The Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships provide
recognition, honor, and financial assistance to outstanding student
performers wishing to pursue further education. Competition at the regional
level is in three rounds, with winners earning slots in the national
competition in Washington, DC in April. The Irene Ryan Foundation awards
sixteen regional and two national scholarships annually.
