KENNEDY CENTER AMERICAN COLLEGE THEATRE FESTIVAL

Seven Worcester State College students attended this year’s Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, Region I conference as competitors.  Tasha Matthews, John Sanderski, and Kyle Maxwell were nominated for the prestigious Irene Ryan Scholarship Award for their acting in the Fall 2007 production of Under Milk Wood.  Accompanying them as scene partners were Christine Bussell, Emily Chestna, and Robert Anderson.  Matthew DeCiero was nominated for his work as a stage manager in Spring 2007 production of The Beauty Inside

The Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships provide recognition, honor, and financial assistance to outstanding student performers wishing to pursue further education. Competition at the regional level is in three rounds, with winners earning slots in the national competition in Washington, DC in April.  The Irene Ryan Foundation awards sixteen regional and two national scholarships annually.
