Item Released 4/12/05 State Senate Task Force on Higher Education Report Released President Janelle C. Ashley and three WSC students attended the Massachusetts State Senate Task Force on Higher Education's press conference to release their report on the Commonwealth's public higher education system on March 28, 2005. She would like to make this information available to all who wish to read the report at www.worcester.edu/stf The report discloses that after losing tens of millions of dollars in state funding during the last several years, the state’s public higher education system needs more than $400 million invested in it to regain its competitive edge. The eight-member Senate panel recommended that the state increase its higher education spending by between 6.5 percent to 8 percent during the next five to seven years. In addition, the report found that pressing capital construction needs total approximately $3 billion.
