PARKING UPDATE - 10/30/07

President Ashley and members of the Executive Leadership Team have approved the following changes to parking areas on campus:

  • 18 staff parking spaces previously located behind the Administration Building will be replaced and will be located along the back wall of the Sullivan Building and in the Student Center lot

  • 6 parking spaces will be designated for “Admissions” and will be along the May Street lot at the back end of the Sullivan Auditorium to be used for groups coming for tours, etc.

  • Shuttle Van Service to the airport will be terminated on November 9, 2007

·        Faculty and staff members who wish to park in the parking garage along with the commuter students may do so by purchasing a “C” hangtag at the same rate charged to students.  This fee will contribute to the debt service on the garage.  Faculty and staff will still be able to obtain the appropriately designated hangtag “F” or “E” at no charge which allows them to park in the general parking in surface lots.  No one will  be allowed to park in the garage without the appropriate “C” hangtag. A "C" hangtag costs $100 for the year or $60 per semester.

PARKING AND TRAFFIC FLOW UPDATE - 10/04/07

Following a review of the traffic flow pattern instituted at the beginning of the semester, we have now determined that the congestion of pedestrian traffic exiting from the garage does not necessitate the roadway in front of the Admin Village to be one way only.  Therefore, commencing on Tuesday, October 9th, the following traffic patterns will be in effect: roadway will be open to two way traffic.

  • Traffic in front of the Admin Village will be two way traffic

  • The roadway/hill between the LRC and the garage will be two lanes and ONE WAY

  • The left hand land will be for the garage entrances and the right hand lane will lead to upper campus/residence halls

  • Exiting the campus may now be done so at both the North and South gates and will help to eliminate congestion at these points
