Item Released 5/10/05 HISTORIC WIN BY LANCER BASEBALL TEAM Worcester State College’s Lancer Baseball Team has won the MASCAC Title in dramatic fashion with Jeff LaHair launching a bottom of 9th inning home run at Lake Park to win the finale 7-6 over Fitchburg State. It was the team's 9th straight victory and 8th last at-bat win of the year. The Lancers beat Westfield State in 10 innings, defending champion Bridgewater State and Fitchburg State for the title. The Lancer’s also won the regular conference title and will return to the NCAAs for the third time in the school's history (1983, 2002). The team will depart on May 18th for a destination which will be announced by the NCAA selection committee on Sunday evening. The NCAA Tournament is double elimination with all game being 9 innings.
