MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What
does the photographer need from me?
At the event, it is important that the
contact person connect with the photographer prior to the event to review
the requested images. If there is a program or schedule, please make
sure the photographer has one. If a "set-up" shot is required, the contact
person should coordinate it for the photographer.
Can the photographer shoot portraits? Yes. The photographer
has a studio set up in the Learning Resource Center that has
portrait lighting and backdrops available.
How
do I get to see the images? Each
event is captured digitally and then downloaded to a computer. The images
are edited and burned onto a CD and archived. Printed contact sheets
are generated for each event and cataloged in binders. These binders are
kept in the Photo Lab (LRC 128). Please feel free to come over and
view photos at any time.
How do I get prints from the event photos?
A CD can be burned
with the images requested and then brought to a photo store for processing.
CDs need to be provided by the person or department requesting the images.
Regular or rewritable CDs will work, or we can also transfer files to a ZIP
disk. Floppy disks are not large enough to hold photo files. This is the
best option if you want 4"x6" sized prints. They are inexpensive to print.
How else are these photos going to be used? Photos taken at
events, on campus grounds and in classes are used to update the Worcester
State College website, publications and brochures and Accolad (yearbook). If you object strongly to
having your photo taken, we will honor your request the best we can, but
sometimes at large group events, it can be difficult to segregate people
according to who is or is not going to be included. Ms. Sidor's
photography is primarily documentary and candid, so it is not possible to
plan out every image.
Can I use the images for my website? Yes. Given the large
number of images that can be created from a single event, it is advisable
for you to view them from the binders and select your images. If you would
like to have many photos available for your website, please contact Ms.
Sidor (erika.sidor@worcester.com)
RELEASE FORMS AND ATTRIBUTION
The photographer will
also have release forms available at the time of the event that must be
signed by the subject(s) before the image can be released. You may also
download a photo release form from the Institutional Identity Guideline
page.
In large group portrait settings, assistance with this is greatly
appreciated. General “atmosphere” shots do not require individual release
forms. Any images used by outside organizations must include the name of
the photographer and “provided by Worcester State College.”
ARCHIVED
IMAGES
All images collected by
the campus photographer are archived in binders and on CDs. Images may be
viewed by making an appointment with the photographer. Some images are used
for marketing purposes and may not be duplicated without permission from the
Director of Public Relations.
*All requests will be
evaluated and scheduled based on their merit and use of images. |
