GENERAL POLICIES FOR LIBRARY USERS

Welcome to the Worcester State College Library. For your convenience the Library’s general policies are listed below:

  1. Your WSC ID card is also your library card. You must have it with you every time you use the Library. Without it, you cannot borrow books, use reserve materials, check out videos or submit an Interlibrary Loan request.

  2. Books may be borrowed for 28 days and may be renewed once for two weeks, if they are not needed by another WSC library user.

  3. There is a change machine in the main lobby. Inserting $1 or $5 bills will produce change in quarters. Please come prepared! No other change is available in the Library.

  4. Fines are charged for overdue books, non-print items, reserve materials and Interlibrary Loan books. Fine schedules are available in each department.

  5. All journals and magazines (current issues and bound volumes) must be used in the Library.

  6. The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) computers are for reference and library research use only. They do not have programs for e-mail, word processing or class assignments. Students in the Library needing these or other programs are asked to use the computers in the general computer labs on the 3rd floor of the LRC. Users who violate computer use policies will be denied further computer access.

  7. All library services stop 15 minutes before the Library closes for the day.

  8. Coins, $1 bills and VendaCards™ may be used for photocopies. The microfilm reader/ printers accept only coin or VendaCard™.

  9. VendaCards™ may be purchased from the self-service dispenser on the wall opposite the photocopiers. There is a one-time charge of $0.50 for the card, and money can be added to the card at any time the Library is open. There are no cash refunds; there are no refunds for lost/damaged cards, or unused copies.

  10. We have a model children’s library on the 3rd floor for our student teachers. While we enjoy sharing this resource with others, for safety reasons, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
