General Information
General Library Resources
 The
Library has approximately 190,000 volumes and 1,000 periodical subscriptions.
We are a participating member of the Central Massachusetts Regional Library System
(CMRLS) which enables us to have access to statewide database titles.
Additionally, we subscribe to, and have remote access to a growing number of
abstracts and specialized databases available online. We have access to more
than 28 additional databases through the OCLC First Search service,
available at no charge to WSC faculty and students. A fee-based service for searching
other databases online is also available. The Library uses the
Voyager product by Endeavor Information Systems as its integrated library management
system and gateway to other online resources.
Message from the Director
 Welcome to your Library! The
only reason that this Library exists is to help the students, faculty, and staff of
Worcester State College find the information they need to function successfully as a
learning community. We provide that information in all formats, from books to World Wide
Web and Internet connections, from the daily newspaper to full text online databases. We
even connect you to the catalogs and home pages of other libraries.
Yet, the Library is more than a building full
of books. We are books, periodicals, Internet connections, non-print materials and a
service oriented staff ready to help you. Whether you are looking for the latest National
Geographic or have to do an extensive search for a graduate level term
paper, we will treat your requests with respect, and will work with you until you have the
right resources to get your work done.
 Dr. Donald Hochstetler, Library Director
Mission Statement
The Library is committed to providing strong
support to the educational programs of Worcester State College, and to furnishing those
services essential to the intellectual growth of the students, faculty, employees, and
other members of the College community.
The Library's primary mission is to support the
College's undergraduate curriculum and its graduate programs. As resources permit, the
Library facilitates faculty research. Within the constraints imposed by these service
priorities, the Library also serves the information needs of the greater community.
