Remote Access to Databases

Remote Access to Databases Requiring a Library Barcode

The following databases can be accessed off campus by using your library barcode imprinted on the front of your WSC One Card ID (do not use your student ID# ). When prompted on screen, enter your barcode with the capital letter followed by the numbers - no spaces.

The Library barcode is automatically imprinted on the front, lower right of your WSC OneCard ID. To obtain an ID card, go to the OneCard Office, Room 204 in the Gym building, or to Campus Police in Wasleyan Hall. It only takes a few minutes, and you are entitled to a WSC ID card, even if you are only taking one course.

No barcodes can be issued over the phone or e-mail.

• Biology and Medical Databases. via CSA Illumina.** Includes Biology Digest (1989 to present), Biological Sciences (for bio-tech and bio-med), Plant Science (1994 - present), Medline, and TOXLINE (1994+) 

• Book Index with Reviews - via EBSCO Host

• CINAHLwith Full Text via EBSCO Host

• EBSCO Host - Databases include Academic Search Complete, Business Source Premier, Newspaper Source, Health Source Plus, MEDLINE, and 17 other titles

• Encyclopedia Britannica Online  

• ERIC via CSA Illumina **

• ERIC via EBSCO Host

• Literary Reference Center - via EBSCO Host

• Mass Board of Library Commissioners. Find and read magazines and newspapers online. Access from your home or office to over 20 databases purchased by the MBLC for use throughout the Commonwealth. Titles include InfoTrac Web (Academic One File),  Biography Resource Center, Massachusetts Newsstand (Boston Globe, Worcester T & G), Encyclopedia Americana, Gale Virtual Reference books (full text) and more.

• MLA International Bibliography via CSA Illumina **

• Public Affairs International - great for global issues; via CSA Illumina **

• Psyc Info - now available on EBSCO Host

• Social Services Abstracts via CSA Illumina **

 * * If you cannot connect to Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA Illumina) - you may need to upgrade your version of Java. Go to the Java site for free download.

Remote Access to Databases Requiring User Names and Passwords

The following databases can be accessed off campus by using specially assigned user names and passwords provided by each individual vendor. If a database is not listed here, then there is no remote access available for that title.  Do not use any personal campus names/passwords - they will not work.

You must have your Library barcode number in order to receive the user names/ passwords. Passwords cannot be transmitted via e-mail.
