Quick Guide: LRC-112
This quick guide is designed to
be used as an easy how-to reference for this multimedia room at Worcester
State College. The guide includes instructions for reserving and
accessing a multimedia room and quick how-to instructions for using the
equipment available.
Reserving a Multimedia Room
- All room reservations are made
through Facilities (x8078).
- Access to multimedia rooms is
granted through Campus Police (x8886).
- Podium keys are assigned through
the Instructional Media Center (x8501).
Available Output Devices and Device
Locations
- Computer: located in the wall
behind the podium; see configuration below.
- Document Camera: located in the
podium; see configuration below.
- Laptop: panel to connect a laptop
to the multimedia system located on the wall behind the podium. Contact the Instructional Media Center in advance to arrange the
availability of a connection cable.
- Teleconferencing: Contact the
Instructional Media Center in advance to arrange use of the
teleconferencing features of this room.
- VCR: located in the wall behind the
podium; see configuration below.
Lights
Lighting control panels are
located at the room entrance and behind the podium. Each panel has
five buttons for various lighting configurations. A description of
each configuration is given below, starting with the top
button.
- All lights on.
- Front lights off, audience and
podium lights on. (Preferred for projector use.)
- Dim podium and audience
lights.
- Dim podium lights only.
- All lights off.

Crestron Touch
Screen
Press the Crestron touch screen
to bring up the display. Press the words Touch Here to
Begin Operation. The screen to the right will
appear.
- The left buttons allow you to
choose which media device to display on the screen at the front of
the room.
- The Volume buttons in
the lower right corner control the media device volume
level.
- The End Session button
will turn off the Crestron Touch Screen and the projection
screen. Note: All other devices must be turned
off separately.

Device Specific Instructions
A. General
Directions 1. All directions assume
you are standing behind the podium facing the
audience. 2. For all devices, turn
on the Crestron touch screen as described
above. 3. For all
non-teleconference features, turn on the video projector
screen.
a. Press the Video
Monitor Power button in the bottom center of the Crestron Touch
Screen. The
monitor control buttons will appear in blank space on the
screen.
b. Press the On button
beneath Video
Projector.
c. The large projection
screen at the front of the room will turn on. It will take a minute
to warm up
before being able to display the chosen device.
B. Computer 1. Press the power button
on the CPU and the monitor. (See podium and media shelf
configuration above.) 2. When the computer has
booted, enter your WSC network logon to access the
computer. 3. On the left side of
the Crestron touch screen, press the Computer 1
button.
C. Document Camera
1. Open the
document camera compartment and pull the gray power cord plug away
from the left corner of the document camera. (See the
podium configuration above
and plug illustration to the right.)
2. Pull out the
tray the device sits on.
3. Plug the gray
power cord into the document camera on the left side outlet marked
AV
in.
4. Raise the side
lights and camera arm. Note: You must press the release
button at the base of the
camera to raise/lower the arm.
5. On the left
side of the Crestron touch screen, press the Document Cam
button.
6. Use the
buttons on the document camera to control the camera
settings.
7. When
putting away the camera, the power cord must be
unplugged and tucked
under the end of the document camera as shown on the
right. It will not fit into the
compartment properly with cord plugged into the document
camera. |

D. Laptop 1. Connect the
laptop cable to the port on the back of the laptop.
2. There are
two parts of the plug that attach to the panel at the
input port (2) and audio port (1) noted in the image to the
right.
3. Connect the
other end of the cable to the laptop port.
4. On the left side
of the Crestron touch screen, press the
Computer 2 button. |

E. VCR
1. Turn on the VCR by
pressing the power button on the left. (See the podium and media
shelf
configuration above.) 2. On the left side of
the Crestron touch screen, press the VCR
button. 3. Place the video
cassette in the VCR. 4. Use the manual
controls on the face of the VCR or the control buttons on the Crestron
Touch Screen.
When leaving the room,
please be sure to shut down the multimedia devices and turn off the
lights. |
