Internet Worm Cleaning
There
are computer viruses circulating around the world that have infected
millions of computers with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
It is very
likely that your Windows computer is infected. If it is, and you connect it
to our network, it will spread the virus rapidly to other computers that are
not protected. You are responsible for the behavior of any personally owned
computer that you connect to the campus network; therefore you need to take
all reasonable precautions including running antivirus software and keepings
its virus definitions up-to-date.
In order to make use of the Internet connection in your residence hall room,
your computer must be checked for the current viruses. If your computer is
not infected and has been protected against infection, it will be allowed on
the network. If it is infected, it must be cleaned and patched before it
will be allowed to access the Internet.
