GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS for students accepted Fall 1998 and after:
 

FOUNDATION COURSES (cannot be taken on a Pass/Fail basis)
 
 
English Composition I 3 credits  may be waived by department
English Composition II 3 credits  
Mathematics 3 credits  has to be in math, not social sciences
US Constitutions 3 credits HI 111 or HI 112 or PO 102 or PO 210 or HI/PO 218 or HI/PO 219



Distribution:

Group I -- Humanities
( 4 courses; no more than 2 in a subject area.)
Recommended:  CM 100 Introduction to Mass Media (3 credits)
                              Either CM110 or TH135 (3 credits)
 

Group II -- Behavioral and Social Sciences
(4 courses; no more than 2 in a subject area)
PS 110 General Psychology I (prerequisite to Psychology of Adolescence, 3 credits)
PS 215 Psychology of Adolescence ( prerequisite to Education Program, 3 credits)
ED 250 Educational Psychology (required in Education Program, 3 credits)
ED 251 Foundations of Education (required in the Education Program, 3 credits)
 

Group III -- Natural Sciences and Math
(4 courses including one lab course; no more than 2 courses in a subject area)
 

Group IV Fine Arts
(3 courses; no more than 2 courses in a subject area)
Recommended, if not used for Group I:  TH 135 Oral Interpretation (3)

Group V -- Health Sciences
(either one 3-credit course or three 1-credit activities; maybe waived upon validation of completion of military basic training; ROTC students receive 1-credit exemption for each year of ROTC completed)

EN 300 History of the English Language  3 credits

MUST CHOOSE 3 of the following courses as electives (9 credits).  Choice must  receive approval of the advisor to ensure that the student is maximizing his or her mastery of the frameworks.
