Diversity Defined
Diversity is the mosaic of people who bring a variety of backgrounds, styles,
perspectives, values, and beliefs as assets to the groups and organizations with
which they interact.
Our
Commitment:
To maintain a campus environment and organizational culture that:
- Is diverse and respectful of diversity.
- Is indicative of the society and community that constitutes the College's
service area.
- Provides a climate conducive to the success of every student and employee, by
valuing the uniqueness that they bring to the college community.
The
Diversity Office at a Glance:
- Investigates all claims of discrimination as defined by Federal and State
Law.
- Monitors the College's employee recruitment and hiring procedures.
- Provides sensitivity training for all factions of the campus
community.
- Works with student organizations and academic departments to sponsor
campus events of different cultures and ethnic groups.
- Does community outreach, working with community centers, agencies and
others as a representative of the College.
All members of the College Community are encouraged to contact the Director concerning any possible
incidents of discrimination. Safe haven meeting times and places can be arranged.
"The only limits are as
always, those of vision."
