Leadership and Human Performance Improvement Certificates Roll Out in
September |
|
|
Leadership is learned! Each of
us has the capacity to lead, if we find our voice as leaders and build the
skills we need to lead successfully. Beginning September 25, a group of
Central Massachusetts merging and experienced leaders will gather at
Worcester State College in the first certificate series in Personal
Leadership Development. Led by Worcester State Professor Jeanne Plas and
other faculty and guest presenters, this program is presented in partnership
with the Greater Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. Go to

Worcester State College and Tower Hill Botanic Garden Form Partnership |
 |
|
Worcester
State College and Tower Hill Botanic Botanic Garden have formed a
partnership between WSC’s Center for Business and Industry and Tower Hill’s
New England School of Gardening (NESOG). The partnership supports
instruction in botany, horticulture, landscaping and gardening skills at
Tower Hill’s facility in Boylston with a mutual recognition of NESOG’s six
certificate programs. The two institutions have also established
opportunities to offer credit for courses delivered at Tower Hill, special
projects and learning opportunities for WSC students of biology and possible
research by faculty.

Certificate Programs
Four new online certificate
programs have joined the 42 already offered by the Center for Business and
Industry.

Can There Be Moral Capitalism? |
 |
|
The Center for Business and Industry partnered with the
Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce to bring Stephen B. Young to the
campus on September 14 to discuss his recently published book, Moral
Capitalism. Young is the Executive director of the Caux Roundtable, an
international network of principled business leaders. He presented the Caux Roundtable’s Principles for Business and discussed how principled
capitalism can flourish and socially responsible prosperity can become a
foundation for a fair, free and transparent global society. Young spoke in
the Administration Building Auditorium. |

Massachusetts Export Center Comes to the Worcester State
Campus
Worcester State College and the Center for Business and
Industry welcome Julia Dvorko, the Central Massachusetts program Director of
the Massachusetts Export Center to her new Campus home. Ms. Dvorko moved to her new office on September 1, where she provides export
assistance services to the businesses of Central Massachusetts. The Center
for Business and Industry will partner with the Mass Export Center to expand
services to manufacturers and other businesses who wish to sell their
products and services in foreign countries. Watch this site for further

Challenges of
the 21st Century Workforce |

The accelerating pace of constant change in the workplace has required
leaders to assume the role of trainer as well as manager. Through upgrading
the skills and knowledge of our employees we can achieve the
continuous improvement that we seek to support the growth of our enterprise.
The Center for Business and Industry's new offering, "Training the 21st
Century Workforce," demonstrates the critical techniques that leaders must
master to become an effective trainer.
