Training the 21st Century Workforce

The accelerating pace of constant change in the workplace has required leaders to assume the role of trainer as well as manager. Through upgrading the skills and knowledge of our employees we can  achieve the continuous improvement that we seek to support the growth of our enterprise. Training the 21st Century Workforce, a four-day program packed with practical information and hands-on activities, will demonstrate the critical techniques that must be mastered to become an effective trainer.

Course Description

Module 1: Workplace Learning Principles

Effective training relies on knowing what motivates adult learners, how they learn best, and how to design curricula that meet their needs and interests. Using a combination of lecture and in-class skill practice, this module examines what is known about adult learning principles and introduces an instructional design process that employs an active, learner-centered approach to training adults. (more)

Module 2: Selecting Instructional Methods

Selecting the appropriate training methods promotes learners’ understanding of the program content, accomplishment of the objectives, and the transfer of knowledge from the classroom to the job. Equally important is evaluating the effectiveness of training to determine if the learning objectives have been met. (more)

Module 3: Presentation & Facilitation Skills

Learning events are dynamic and challenging processes.  The trainer's
job is to maximize the participants' opportunity to learn what may be
necessary for improved performance and maximum results.  To accomplish
this, the trainer must establish and maintain a close relationship with
the learning group, sometimes directing, sometimes facilitating, but
always insuring the best possible learning climate for all. (more)

Module 4: Leading the Learning Event

Enhancing a trainer's classroom techniques for both presenting and
facilitating is extremely important to ensure effective, lively,
interactive and high-quality delivery of your training programs.  The
focus of this module will be on effective preparation techniques and on
delivery skills and techniques, including eye contact, body gestures,
body movements, stance, vocal quality, projection and much more. (more)
