Module 2: Selecting Instructional Methods
Overview
Selecting the appropriate
training methods promotes learners’ understanding of the program content,
accomplishment of the objectives, and the transfer of knowledge from the
classroom to the job. Equally important is evaluating the effectiveness of
training to determine if the learning objectives have been met.
In this module,
participants will
-
Examine how to
incorporate a variety of design and instructional techniques to
accommodate different learning styles and actively engage participants to
achieve the desired knowledge, skills, and behaviors.
-
Practice using a design
document format that incorporates steps for facilitating learning.
-
Review
different ways of evaluating the results of the training.
What You Will Learn

Identification and
implementation of instructional strategies that are aligned with the
established learning objectives.

-
How to incorporate a mix of
instructional methods (lecture, role play, group exercise, case study,
etc.) into the program design that will accommodate preferred learning

Six guidelines for sequencing
training activities to maximize their impact and value to learners.
-
A format for documenting an
instructor’s guide incorporating all the components of a training program
and how to implement them.
