Commencement Check List For
Students
Make sure you
have filled out an intent to graduate form with the Registrar's Office. If
you have filled out a form for a previous semester please make sure you
fill out an updated one.
In order for the Registrar's Office to verify that a
student has completed all college requirements (general and major/minor),
an intent to graduate form must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office by
the student. This will initiate the review process. Master degree students
must submit an intent to graduate form to the Graduate Office.
Check the Graduation Board
outside of the Registrar's Office or this Website for your name.
Once you have submitted an intent to graduate form and the
Registrar has cleared you for graduation, your name will appear on the
board, with the next posting. If your name does not appear please check
with the Registrar's Office. Click
here to view the online listing.
Report any errors or
corrections affecting how your name will appear on your diploma.
Your name will appear on your diploma exactly as it
appears on the Graduation Board. Changes and corrections should be
reported to the Registrar's Office.
Commencement invitations will be
available at the end of April, at the Student Center Information Desk.
Invitations are limited initially to five per graduate.
Beginning Friday, May 3, additional invitations may be obtained.
Invitations are not necessary the day of Commencement and are provided
more as a keepsake. The DCU Center doors will open at 11:00am. Seating in
the main hall will begin once all individuals needing assistance are
seated.
Vote for an
Ella May Whitney Award recipient.
This honor is given to a fellow senior in recognition of
excellence in scholarship, professional skill, and personal development.
The senior class votes for a candidate from the class and the award is
presented at Commencement.
Nomination sheets
available at the information desk or can be downloaded
here. [pdf]
All forms are to be turned in at the Student Center information desk, or
mailed to Sheila Jones c/o Student Affairs.
Undergraduate caps and
gowns are available at the Information Booth, in the Student Center.
Baccalaureate degree candidates may purchase caps and
gowns at the Information booth in the Student Center Monday-Thursday,
9:00am-7:00pm and Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. It is recommended that you
purchase your cap and gown early because sizes are limited. The cost is
$15.00. * Special orders (i.e. sizing) for caps and gowns need to be
made by April 13.
Master degree candidates may order and purchase caps,
gowns and hoods in the Graduate & Continuing Education Office. Stop in to
order Monday-Thursday 9:00am-7:00pm and Friday 9:00am-12:00pm. The cost is
$22.25.
If you have borrowed a Federal Subsidized or Unsubsidized Stafford loan
or a Supplemental Loan for Students at any time while at Worcester State
College, you must complete a mandatory Exit Interview Loan Counseling
Session.
To
meet this requirement, please access
The
Financial Aid web page by clicking here and click on “Exit Interview” to
begin.
Failure to complete a loan counseling session will prevent you from
receiving your diploma or official transcripts.
To avoid confusion, decide
on a predetermined site where you will meet family and guests after the
Commencement ceremony.
