Make
arrangements for lodging.
Because hotel and motel space in the Worcester area is at
a premium this time of year, we urge you to make your reservations as soon
as possible. For more information,

Decide who
will attend Commencement.
There is no limit to the number of guests each graduate
may invite to Commencement. No admission tickets are required.
However, in deciding whom you will invite to Commencement,
we urge you to consider the special needs of the elderly and the
physically impaired. You must take into consideration that a large crowd
will be gathering for the ceremony.
Traditionally, many graduates have used their Commencement
invitations as announcements to send to family and friends who cannot
attend the ceremony. Students are responsible for picking up their
invitations at the Student Center information desk at the end of April.
Notify the
Office of Disability Services in advance if a member of your party
needs special assistance.
Parking for people with disabilities is available in the parking garage and on
the streets surrounding the DCU Center. The DCU Center is
accessible for people with disabilities. If special assistance is needed, please contact Dennis Lindblom at (508) 929-8733 or by Email,
dlindblom@worcester.edu.
Handicap seating will begin at 11:15am. General seating will follow.
Plan to
arrive at the Commencement site at least one hour before the procession
begins.
The Procession begins promptly at 12:30 p.m.
Balloons are
not allowed in the DCU Center.
Please do not bring balloons for your graduate. Due to
safety reasons the DCU Center will not allow balloons inside the
Centre.
Flower Sale Fundraiser
The Class of 2010 will be sponsoring a Flower Sale
Fundraiser at the DCU Center on Commencement Day. The flower sale
will begin at 11:00am in the lobby. Prices are yet to be
determined but,
are cheaper than those of the vendors you will find outside the DCU
Center. Profits from these sales go to the Class of 2010.
Commencement
photographs
Chappell Studios will be on hand Commencement Day to take
individual photographs as each graduate crosses the stage and is
congratulated by the President. Information about ordering photographs
will be sent directly to you.
To expedite
the ceremony, it is important that the platform area be kept clear.
Please plan to take ‘family’ photographs after the
Ceremony and do not block the stage area.
To avoid
confusion, decide on a predetermined site where you will meet your
graduate after the Commencement ceremony.
