NEW DEPARTMENT CHAIR
Dr. Cooper started his tenure as
Department Chair on July 1, 2003.
He succeeds Dr. Ferguson, who served three consecutive three year terms.
DR. JOHN GOODCHILD JOINS FACULTY
Dr. Goodchild earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Liverpool University. His thesis work concerned oxygen and sulfur heterocycles. Since then he has pursued synthesis in medicinal chemistry and in nucleic acids. He comes to WSC with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Kresge Challenge Met
The Kresge Foundation awarded Worcester State College a $123,000 challenge grant toward the purchase of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer for the Chemistry program. Worcester State College raised an additional $319,975 to match the grant and create an endowed maintenance account for the equipment. Many thanks to the many WSC alumni, friends and staff who helped the department meet the challenge.
