Framingham, MA- The Framingham State College softball team split their conference doubleheader at home today with Worcester State, as the Rams took game one by a score of 7-0, while the Lancers took game two 2-0.
Senior DeAnna Curtis (Lakeville, MA) went the distance for the Rams in the first game as she pitched seven shutout innings while scattering four hits, walking one and striking out seven. The Rams took a 3-0 lead in the second inning on RBI singles by Christina Sullivan (Weymouth, MA) and Colleen Clancy (Lynn, MA). That was all Curtis would need as she did the rest on the mound, but the Rams added two unearned runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings to increase their lead to 7-0.
In the second game, Worcester State’s Ashley Loomer (Pepperell, MA) led off the game with a walk and would score on an RBI single by Michelle Frazier (Tewksbury, MA) to give the Lancers the 1-0 lead which was all they would need. The Rams struggled to get their offense going in the second game as Amanda Michaud (Somerset, MA) went the distance for the Lancers scattering 7 hits and striking out four.
Framingham State senior Christina Sullivan because the Rams career hit leader with her single in the sixth inning of game one. Sullivan eclipsed the old career hit mark of 136 which was set by Mary Matthew a few years ago. After going 4 for 7 today, Sullivan now has 139 hits in her career.
