Softball Game Recap

Worcester State Softball Edges Anna Maria, 1-0
Worcester, MA – Worcester State junior pitcher Danielle Caron (Peabody, MA) tossed a complete game 1-hitter as the host Lancers defeated the visiting Amcats of Anna Maria College, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at Rockwood Field. The win Worcester State’s second of the year improving to 2-13, while Anna Maria remains winless at, 0-11.
Caron struck out six and faced just two batters over the minimum in earning her first win of the season.
The Lancers plated the only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning when Caron led off with a single to left field. Freshman Ashley Ducharme (Townsend, MA) sacrificed her to second base and Caron scored on an RBI single by freshman Tina Anderson (Worcester, MA).
Anna Maria got their lone hit on a single by Jill Roach (Charlton, MA) to lead off the fourth inning. Roach was the only Amcat to reach base as she also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch.
On the day Worcester State banged out 6 hits with Caron leading the way going 2-for-3.
Worcester State will return to the diamond on Thursday when they host Becker College.
