Worcester State College Football Release

November 6, 2007
Bartucca
Named NEFC Defensive Player of the Week

Worcester, MA
– Worcester State College linebacker Tim Bartucca (North Attleboro, MA) has been selected as the New England Football Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for his performance Saturday in Worcester State’s, 7-0, loss to Westfield State College in the Lancers’ season finale.

Bartucca closed out his career in style.  Bartucca had a game high 16 tackles (9 solo) with 3.5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.  Bartucca, who also handles the punting chores for the Lancers, reset the Lancer record book when a poor snap forced him to sidestep a defensive pursuer and he got off a 77 yard punt resetting the previous record of 66 yards.

Bartucca finished the season as the Lancers’ leading tackler with 86 tackles.  He also finished with a pair of interceptions and two fumble recoveries.  As a punter, Bartucca finished the season with a 36.7 yard per kick average.  Bartucca now holds a pair of career records as well.  To go along with the Worcester State record 77 yard punt, he also is the career punt net yardage leader with 7,069.
