Worcester, MA – The Worcester State College Lancers capitalized on a Massachusetts Maritime fumble in the opening minute of play and never looked back as the Lancers went on to defeat the Mass Maritime Buccaneers by the score of 42-0 Saturday afternoon on Coughlin Field on the campus of Worcester State College.

After MMA fumbled, Worcester State converted on their first play from scrimmage as quarterback Cean Oksanish (S. Grafton, MA) found junior receiver Lavon Cuyler (Pittsfield, MA) on a 24-yard scoring strike.

On the next possession the Buccaneers were forced to punt and senior Greg Wood (Bellingham, MA) returned the kick for a touchdown which was nullified by a block in the back penalty. However the Lancers got the ball in great field position inside the Maritime 45 yard-line. Oksanish worked the ball down the field culminating the Lancer drive with a touchdown pass to sophomore Jeremy Gaucher (Burrillville, RI).

The Lancers extended the lead to 21-0 when Daniel Walker (Templeton, MA) picked off a Maritime pass and returned it for a 49-yard touchdown return.

After another Buccaneer punt, the Lancers drove down the field finishing off with a Ryan Kelly (Apple Valley, MA) 8-yard touchdown run.

Still in the first quarter and leading 28-0, the Lancers were not through as a MMA punt pinned the Lancers on their own 3-yard line, but after a 12 yard pass completion, sophomore back Kenyatta Hale (Norton, MA) took off for an 85-yard touchdown jaunt.

Worcester State added the final score of the day with 7:00 minutes remaining in the half as Hale notched his second score of the day on a 14-yard scoring run.

The Lancers have now outscored their opponents 91-0 in the last two weeks as they improve to 5-2, 2-1 in the division, on the season. Mass Maritime falls to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in NEFC Bogan Division action.

The Lancers will return to action next Saturday when then travel to Maine to take on Maine Maritime while Mass Maritime will host Fitchburg State.
