ANCHORWOMEN SWEEP LANCERS, 9-0
Providence, RI‹Rhode Island College improved to 2-0 in a 9-0 win over
Worcester State on Thursday afternoon. The Anchorwomen have won 15
consecutive matches dating back to last season and 26 of their last 27
contests. Worcester State remains winless on the season with an 0-2 mark.
Rhode Island College junior Meg Funk (Oakdale, CT) and senior Sasha Doonan
Rodriguez (Pawtucket, RI) won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, and
combined to win at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Julie Bannon (Narragansett, RI)
won at No. 4 singles, remaining undefeated in her college career with a 19-0
singles mark. The entire Rhode Island College lineup remained perfect on the
season with 2-0 records across the board.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open the 2007 Little East
Conference slate when the Anchorwomen host Salem State on Saturday, Sept. 15
at noon.
