State University’s Kim Crayco (Bolton, CT)
scored a pair of second half goals as the nationally
ranked Colonials defeated the host Worcester State
College Lancers, 2-0, Wednesday evening at Coughlin
Field. Worcester State falls to 8-5 on the season,
while the Colonials, ranked #18 in the latest NSCAA
coaches poll, improve to 10-1-1.
Crayco tallied the game-winner in the 56th minute when she took a beautiful pass from junior Catherine Nathans (New Fairfield, CT) and knocked home the shot as she ran into the Lancer net.
Just five minutes later, Crayco scored her 6th goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Angela Wozniak (Ludlow, MA) at 60:52 to give the Colonials the, 2-0, victory.
Western Connecticut out shot Worcester State, 11-8, on the night as much of the match was evenly played in the midfield.
Worcester State goalkeeper Erin Doherty (Uxbridge, MA) stopped 3 shots in taking the loss, while Colonial net minder Jenna Cappellieri (Stratford, CT) made 4 saves on the night.
Worcester State returns to MASCAC action on Saturday when they visit Bridgewater State College. Western Connecticut will visit Little East foe UMass-Boston on Saturday.
