Worcester State Beats MIT in OT, 1-0

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State College women’s soccer team defeated the visiting Engineers of MIT Saturday afternoon, 1-0, in an overtime affair at Worcester State’s Coughlin Field, to remain unbeaten on the season.  Worcester State improves to 3-0 on the season while MIT gets their first blemish of the 2006 campaign falling to 2-1.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie through 97 minutes before sophomore forward Amanda Santos (Milford, MA) netted the game-winner on a breakaway in the 98th minute of action off a pass from junior midfielder Lauren Cush (Hudson, MA).

Both net minders were tested throughout the contest as Worcester State goalkeeper Kim Massa (Westford, MA) remained unscored upon this year stopping 9 Engineer offerings on the day.  MIT keeper Kat Vater (Middleton, WI) stopped 7 Lancers shots in all.
