DANBURY, CT - Catherine Nathans (New Fairfield, CT) scored two second-half goals to lift Western Connecticut State University to a 3-1 came-from-behind victory over Worcester State College at the Westside Athletic Complex Tuesday night in a non-conference meeting.

The Lancers, this week's 10th ranked team in the latest NSCAA New England Poll released today, took a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute when Tiffany Rotatori (Auburn, MA) broke away from the Colonials defense then drilled the ball into the wide open goal.

It marked the first time in over 550 minutes that WestConn had trailed in a game.  Back on September 5, WPI took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute over the Colonials before dropping a 5-1 decision.

WestConn, ranked eighth in the nation for the second straight week and first in New England in the latest NSCAA Division III Women's Soccer Poll, then scored three unanswered goals on the Worcester State.

Nathans scored off a feed from Jessica Gomes (Newington, CT) in the 51st minute and then tallied her 13th goal of the season with 24 minutes to play. Her second goal came off a crossing pass from Kim Crayco (Bolton, CT).

Freshman Nicole Sieber (Newtown, CT) added an unassisted insurance goal with just over 20 minutes to play in the game.

The Colonials' best chance in the scoreless first half came in the 40th minute when Nathans found a loose ball in the box and got behind the Lancers' keeper Kim Massa (Westford, MA).  Michelle Astuccio (Foxboro, MA) was able to clear the ball before it crossed the goal mouth.

Two minutes later, Katelyn Bonetti (Plymouth, MA) had an open shot for the Lancers but it hit the right post and caromed away from WestConn keeper Jenna Cappellieri (Stratford, CT).

Cappellieri, who has allowed just four goals this season, earned the win while making two saves.

Massa made 11 stops for the Lancers, which drop to 8-2 on the season.  She had allowed just one goal in the first eight games before tonight's contest.

WestConn, now 8-0, travels to Wesleyan University on Thursday, Sept. 28 in a non-Little East Conference match at 4:30 p.m.
