Worcester State and Bridgewater State Battle to Draw
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State College women’s soccer team played the visiting Bears of Bridgewater State College to a, 1-1, draw after 120 minutes of action Saturday afternoon at Worcester State’s Coughlin Field. The tie resets the Lancer’s record at 11-3-1 (4-0-1 MASCAC) while Bridgewater State is now 7-4-1 (2-0-2 MASCAC).
Worcester State opened the scoring in the 15th minute when sophomore Katelyn Bonetti (Plymouth, MA) tallied her 5th goal of the year off a pass from junior midfielder Lauren Cush (Hudson, MA).
The Bears answered back 22:07 into
the contest when senior Laura Nelson (Ashburnham,
MA) knotted the game at, 1-1, converting a pass
from fellow senior Katie Neary (Abington, MA).
Worcester State goalkeeper Kim Massa (Westford,
MA) stopped 3 saves on the afternoon, while her
counterpart Emily Schlosser (Petersham, MA)
made 4 saves for the visitors.
Worcester State will return to action on Thursday
when they host the Bison of Nichols College in a
non-conference match. Bridgewater State will visit
Plymouth State University on Tuesday afternoon also
a non-conference affair.
