The Lancers led the entire contest before Cox’s game-winning heroics.  The Lancers took a, 33-27, lead into the break behind 14 first half points from senior Rachael Odugbela (Providence, RI) and 11 points, on a perfect 4 for 4 from the field, from fellow senior Jackie Jenkins (Ashland, MA).  The Lancers shot 46.7% from the field in the first stanza while Trinity struggled from the floor shooting 30.3%  Trinity did hold a decisive edge on the boards as they hauled in 28 rebounds to just 15 for Worcester State.  First year forward Christine Card (Waterbury, CT) posted a strong 10 points and 5 rebounds in the first frame for Trinity to keep them close.

The Lancer lead increased to 12 points at the 15:46 mark on a lay-up by Odugbela to give them their largest lead of the night at, 43-31.  From there a combination of poor shooting by the Lancers and a strong effort by Trinity cut the Worcester State lead to a single point at, 56-55, with 2:35 remaining.  Worcester Sate could only muster 33.3% in the second half, while the Bantams shot 64%.  The Lancers led, 62-58, with 1:15 remaining after a lay-up by junior Lindsay DelleChiaie (Leominster, MA) with 1:15 left.  After a lay-up by Card cut the lead to two, a Worcester State turnover set the state for Cox’ heroics.  With time winding down Cox dribbled to the left of the arc and launched the game-winner with a Lancer defender in her face.  Worcester State was unable to get off an attempt in the final second.
