WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Senior forward Sandy Mosley (Goshen, CT) and sophomore post player Ashley McFetridge (Canton, CT) combined for 35 points and 26 rebounds to spark the Eastern Connecticut State University women’s basketball team to a 64-58 victory over Worcester State College Thursday night at Francis E. Geissler Gymasium.

The win is the fourth straight for Eastern (8-5), which remained unbeaten in five home games this year. Worcester State (7-5) has lost three of its last four since the end of last semester.

Mosley and McFetridge each had ten points and Mosley ten rebounds in the first half, but the Lancers used a buzzer-beater by senior guard Jackie Jenkins (Ashland, MA) to take a one-point, 31-30 lead into the lockerroom. The Lancers moved out to their biggest lead of the second half, 38-32 before the Warriors countered with a 9-1 run to re-gain the advantage, 41-40, five minutes into half. Down by a point, 44-43, Eastern put the game away with a 12-2 run that made it 56-45 with eight minutes left. Mosley sparked the run by scoring seven of the points, giving the Warriors the lead for good with a three-point to kick off the spurt.

Mosley led Eastern in scoring for the 12th time in 13 games, finishing with a team-high 19 points and posted her fourth double-double of the season with a game-high 16 rebounds. McFetridge recorded her first double-double of the year with 16 points and a season-high ten rebounds in 28 minutes off the bench. Sophomore guard Nicky Morey (Columbia, CT) handed out eight assists and now has 18 assists in her last two games.

Senior forward Rachael Odugbela (Providence, RI) of Worcester led all players with 23 points, 14 coming in the second half. Odugbela, who was 5-for-7 from the floor in the second half, also led the Lancers with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.  Junior guard Lindsay DelleChiaie (Leominster, MA) added 16 points and five rebounds for Worcester.

Morey added seven rebounds for Eastern, which held a 12-point advantage on the boards. Led by Mosley (7) and McFetridge (5), the Warriors outrebounded Worcester 18-8 on the offensive glass.
