Worcester, MA - The Worcester State College women’s basketball team defeated the Falcons of Fitchburg State for the second time this season by the score of 66-59, in Lancer Gymnasium on the campus of Worcester State College Tuesday evening.

The Lancers led 34-20 at the break as they shot 47% from the field.  Fitchburg led 2-0 to open game and then Worcester State took the lead at 4-2 and never trailed again.  Donna Zwemke (Ware, MA) paced the Lancers in the first half with 10 points and 6 rebounds.  The Falcons were led by Jen Fontaine (Dracut,MA) who had 9 in the first half.

The second half saw the Lancers extend their lead to as much as 18 points but the Falcons would not go away narrowing the margin 6 before Worcester State was able to withstand the charge and win by 7.  Zwemke scored 18 points in the second half which saw the Falcons outscore the Lancers 39-32in the stanza.

Zwemke had a huge game for Worcester State.  The junior co-captain totaled 28 points and 11 rebounds on the night for her 6th double-double of the season.  Junior Kathy Ward (Fall River, MA) chipped in with 12 points and 5 assists.

Fitchburg was led by Fontaine's team high 19 points as well Samantha Sweeney's (Haverhill, MA) who had 11 points and collected 11 rebounds.
