Lancers Defeat Rivier, 2-1 For Immediate Release: 11/25/03 Contact: John Meany (508) 929-8730
Worcester, MA - The Worcester State College women's basketball team opened their home schedule in style defeating the Corsairs of UMass-Dartmouth by the score of 70-51, in Lancer Gym on the campus of Worcester State College. The win improves the Lancers to 2-1 on the young season while UMass-Dartmouth falls to 1-2.Junior center Jenn Harris (Lake Mary, FL) led the way for the Lancers in the first half scoring all of her 10 points in the half on 5 of 6 shooting. The Corsairs' Amy Satkevich helped UMD to the 37-34 lead at the break scoring 11 of her game-high 16 in the first session. The second half was all Lancers as they stepped up their defensive effort limiting UMass-Dartmouth to 16% shooting from the field in the half on 3 of 19 shooting. Worcester State's Brittany Rheault (Oxford, MA) who came off the bench to score 12 second half points as the Lancers took control early in the second half. The Lancers will next be in action on Tuesday when they travel to Nichols College to take on the Bison. |
