Head Coach: Christian Battaglia Entering his 3rd season at the helm of the Worcester State men's soccer program, head coach Christian F. Battaglia has continued to strengthen and build this New-England and Nationally recognized program. Battaglia compiled the highest winning percentage (.775) ever at Worcester State College going 15-4-1 during his first year campaign. His first year team won the regular season, conference tournament championship and qualified for the NCAA tournament.
Under Battaglia's leadership, Worcester State has kept its strong reputation for being the best state school over the past seven years. Over the past seven seasons Worcester State has won its regular season conference title six times while compiling a 49-4-6 MASCAC Conference record and has qualified for postseason play in its last 7 seasons, including an NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen round finish in 2001 and first round appearances in 2002, 2003, 2005. The Lancers also captured the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament championships in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005.
Battaglia also played professionally for the New York Capital
District Alleycats, Western Mass. Pioneers and the NH Phantoms.
In 2003, Battaglia earned a USSF "B" license. He also received
an advanced national diploma from the National Coaches
Association in 2002. Future plans for Battaglia include
pursuing his USSF “A” License and Premier Diploma.
A standout player from New Jersey, Battaglia played for nationally recognized SSC Football Club where his team captured first place titles in local, state and national tournaments, including McDonald's Sun Bowl in Tampa, FL, the Dallas Cup in Texas and the Capital Cup in Washington. Coach Battaglia earned numerous honors at West Morris Mendham High School, collected 17 goals and 14 assists on his senior team that went 20-2, captured the Iron Hill Conference and County Championship team which finished #8 ranked in the State in 1992 and Received All-Conference, All-County, All Area, and All-State recognition. Christian also received MVP of the Morris County Tournament.
