Men's Soccer Release
|
October 15, 2007 Worcester, MA - Worcester State College junior co-captain Matt Brothers (Auburn, MA) has been selected as the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference men’s soccer player of the week for his performance last week for the Lancers as they went 3-0. This is the second time in his brief career for the Lancers that Brothers has garnered this honor. Brothers had a flair for the dramatic as the Lancers went 3-0 on the week. He scored game winning goals in two of Worcester State’s victories last week - both in double overtime. Versus Framingham State, Brothers buried a direct kick from just outside the box to give the Lancers a 2-1 victory. On Saturday versus Bridgewater, Brothers broke a 0-0 tie with 1:19 remaining in the second overtime on a penalty kick. This is the third time that Brothers, who is a two-time first team All-MASCAC selection, has earned this honor. Brothers and the Lancers will return to action on Wednesday when they travel across town to take on Clark University. ##### |
