2, 2006 KEENE, N.H. 10/2/06 – The Keene State College men’s soccer team snapped a two game losing streak with a 5-1 non-conference victory over Worcester State College at Owl Athletic Complex on Monday night.
KSC answered 19 seconds later when Brian Crook (Wareham, Mass.) fired a shot into the far corner of the net for his first goal of the season.
Noah Hertzler (Hancock, N.H.) scored two quick goals within a 30 second span to give KSC a 3-1 halftime lead. The sophomore forward finished off a perfect passing play from Nathan Gaughan (Harwinton, Conn.) and Ross Stanton (Bethlehem, N.Y.). He then converted a short toe-touch pass from Ryan Farnsworth (Merrimack, N.H.) for his third goal of the season.
Farnsworth and Caleb Patterson (Barrington, N.H.) added to the Owls’ lead in the second half. Farnsworth put a direct kick into the top corner of the net and Patterson scored on a header.
Peter Kersker (Beverly, Mass.) with three saves and Scott Pannone (Wolcott, Conn.) saw action in goal for the Owls. Albert Jenkins (Thomaston, Ga.) finished with 14 saves for the Lancers. It was the first meeting between the two teams.
KSC hosts Eastern Conn. on Saturday (1 p.m.). Worcester State is at Western Conn. on Wednesday (7 p.m.). |
