Forest Wilber MASCAC Runner of the Year
Lind, Malek Earn All-MASCAC Honors; Shields All-MASCAC for Women


Worcester, MA
– Worcester State College junior cross country runner Forest Wilber (Barre, MA) earned Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Runner of the Year honors after winning the MASCAC championship meet on his home course at Moore State Park in Paxton this past Saturday.  Wilber broke his own course record in the process covering the 8,000 meter course in a time of 27:03.9.  For his efforts, Wilber was also named MASCAC Runner of the Week for the 4th time this season.  Wilber has been the winner of 4 of the 6 races he has entered this fall.

Joining Wilber on the All-MASCAC team are junior Rob Lind (Worcester, MA) and sophomore Adam Malek (Worcester, MA) who earned the honors by virtue of their top 10 performance at the championship meet.  Malek finished in 5th place with a time of 28:04.6 and Lind followed in 6th place with a time of 28:19.1.

On the women’s side, senior Lindsay Shields (Millbury, MA) was the lone representative in the top 10 as she finished the 5,000 meter course in 6th place with a time of 21:22.7

Overall as teams, the men’s team finished in second place just out of the top spot and the women posted a 4th place finish,

This weekend both the men’s and women’s squads will be at the Alliance Championship meet at UMass Dartmouth.
