Lancers Clinch Home Playoff

Castleton, VT-The Castleton Spartans women’s lacrosse team trailed
Worcester State 3-2 early on in the first half, but they would get
no closer as the Lancers pulled away for a 15-5 victory. Five
Lancers scored on the afternoon, each netting at least two goals.
Ann Clark and Shannon Feeley each scored four goals in leading the
Lancers to victory. Clark also added two assists to add to her
offensive totals of 60 goals and 25 assists in 12 games. Megan
Rosborough, Abby Cosenza, and Brittany Jamieson also found the back
of the net for the Lancers. Castleton received offensive
contributions from Nicole Bouchard, Katelyn Greene, and Nicole
Adams. Bouchard and Greene helped keep the game close as Wrocester
State held an 8-3 halftime lead.
The Lancers came out firing in the second half, recording 3 straight
goals to put the game out of reach from the Spartans. Lyndsey Nunes
finished the afternoon with seven saves for Worcester State as she
improved her individual record to 9-3. Francesca Mazzola had nine
saves for the Spartans.
Castleton dropped their second consecutive game to fall to 4-4
overall and 3-2 in NEWLA games. The Spartans finish the weekend at
home against NEWLA opponent Thomas for a 1pm start. Worcester State
improves to 9-3 overall with a NEWLA record of 6-1, good enough for
second in the conference. The Lancers return to action Tuesday April
24 when they host Framingham State at 7:00 pm.
