– Ann Clark (Worcester, MA) totaled a season-high 13 points as the host Worcester State College Lancer women’s lacrosse team defeated Rhode Island College Tuesday evening on Coughlin Field by the final score of, 16-6.  The victory improves the Lancers to 5-3 on the year, while RIC dips to 1-5.

With the score tied, 1-1, at the 21:55 mark of the first half, the Lancers proceeded to score five unanswered goals to take a, 6-1, lead at 11:33 of the first half.  Sophomore Meredith Godfroy (Tyngsboro, MA) got the run started scoring an unassisted goal to break the deadlock and give Worcester State the, 2-1, lead.  Clark then took over scoring four straight goals.

RIC’s Meredith Darby (Middletown, RI) cut the Lancer lead to, 6-2, but Worcester State ran off three more on goals by freshman Brittany Jamieson (Foxboro, MA), Megan Rosborough (Uxbridge, MA) and Abby Cosenza (Shrewsbury, MA) before Rhode Island College’s Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) finished up the scoring with seven seconds remaining in the half for the, 9-3, halftime tally.

The Lancers opened the second half with three straight scores with Shannon Feeley (W. RIC’s Erin Duffy (N. Dighton, MA) would close out the scoring in the night.

Lancer goaltender Lyndsey Nunes (W. Springfield, MA) stopped 7 shots on the night in earning her fifth victory of the year.  RIC keeper Katie Kielbasinski (Windsor, CT) made 9 stops for the visitors.
