Worcester State Gets First Win of Year, 14-10

DANBURY, CT – Ann Clark (Worcester, MA) scored five goals, including three in the final 11:51, as Worcester State College edged Western Connecticut State University, 14-10 in non-league women’s lacrosse action Tuesday night at the WAC in Danbury.

WestConn, 0-3, drew even with the Lancers, 6-6 when Caitlin Everin (Glastonbury, CT) scored an unassisted goal with 2:09 remaining in the first stanza.

Worcester State, 1-1, never trailed after taking a 7-6 advantage on a goal by Megan Rosborough (Uxbridge, MA) just 20 seconds later.

Brittany Jamieson (Foxboro, MA) and Shannon Feeley (West Springfield, MA) added three goals apiece for the winners.

Taylor Moore (Hamden, CT) led the Colonials with five goals and one assist on the night.  Cuyler Rush (New Milford, CT) added a pair of goals and an assist. 

Lyndsey Nunes (West Springfield, MA) earned the victory in goal for the Lancers after making 12 saves.  Angela Vargas (Stonington, CT) turned away 14 shots for WestConn.

The Colonials host Plymouth State University this Friday, March 30 at 5 p.m. in a game that was originally slated for PSU.
