2007 Worcester State College
Women's Lacrosse Preview

The 2007 Worcester State College women’s lacrosse team will have a new look this season as they try to take the next step and compete for the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) title.  The Lancers will have a new coach as Deb Draper takes over the reigns of the Lancer program.  Last season, Worcester State advanced to the NEWLA title game before falling on the finals to Western New England College.  The Lancers also earned their first ever ECAC bid following the NEWLA tournament.  The Lancers fell to Roger Williams in the semifinal match-up.

This season Worcester State will rely heavily on all-time leading scorer and reigning NEWLA Offensive Player of the Year Ann Clark.  Last season, Clark scored 106 points (80 goals, 26 assists).  Clark holds all of Worcester State’s offensive records and has averaged 6.4 points per game over her first three years.  Joining Clark up front is All-NEWLA midfielder Shannon Feeley who was third on the team in scoring a year ago with 57 points (2006: 30 goals, 19 assists).  Junior Krystyna Kozakowski (2006: 3 Goals, 2 Assists) will handle a defensive wing position in the midfield with freshmen Brittany Jamieson, Aimee Bihler, Abby Cosenza and Amanda Cosenza all getting playing time in the Lancer midfield.

Up front, Meredith Godfroy (2006: Goals, 6 Assists) returns to provide an offensive spark in the Worcester State offensive zone.  Sophomores Megan Rosborough (2006: 3 Goals, 2 Assists) and Ginelle Blais will be counted upon to provide a scoring punch at attack along with junior Linh Nguyen.

Defensively, Worcester Sate will feature returning veterans Maureen Lemay, Kim Cosenza (2006: 4 goals, 4 assists) and Erin MacDonald.  Freshman Kim Vail will also compete for playing time in the Lancer defensive ranks.  Freshman Veronica Farrell is getting her first look on the lacrosse field but is coming along quickly and should be a strong part of the Lancer defense in the future.  Junior Katie King will look to return to action later on in the season.

In goal for the Lancers will be sophomore Lyndsey Nunes who was a 2nd Team All-NEWLA selection a year ago when she posted a .521 save% and 11.67 goals against average.  Backing up Nunes will be freshman Caitlin Early.

Worcester State will open up their regular season on Saturday, March 24th when they host NEWLA opponent Thomas College.
